Pregnancy headache is a common condition, especially during the first and last quarter.

Headaches occur frequently during pregnancy, the most common being pain caused by the accumulation of muscle tension in the neck.

Not every headache is migraine. Migraine is a strong pain, which usually affects half of the head, being accompanied by other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, intolerance to light and noise, numbness, tingling and difficulty in speaking.

There is a saying that if you suffer from migraines before conception, they will intensify or will improve during pregnancy. It varies from person to person: some women have less pain; others complain that they intensify, and sometimes headaches occur for the first time during pregnancy.

Women that during pregnancy suffer from migraines have a higher risk of vascular disorders. Scientists have concluded that a pregnant woman who has migraines is at risk of having a stroke, and to develop heart disease or blood clots.

Research suggest that predisposition to migraine increases with age, 40 years old woman are more likely to exhibit such a problem than 20 years old.

Doctors have warned that a woman with migraines during pregnancy should be aware of several factors, namely: hypertension pressure, high cholesterol, blood clots, heart disease, and stroke.

Most women complain frequently of pregnancy headaches, especially during the first and last quarter. If in the first trimester headaches, besides common causes can be caused by hormonal changes, increased volume of blood reach the blood stream. Normally in the second trimester, the frequency pregnancy headache should decrease as the woman's body gets used to and adapts to the new state. In the third trimester, pregnancy headache may occur more frequently due to changes of static deformation of the spine and because the center of gravity changes due to increased abdomen.

It was found that approximately 60% of women suffer from pregnancy headache, depression, , sometimes accompanied by nausea and vomiting.

Causes of headaches are known only at a small extent, but it is known that there are some factors that may lead to the onset of headaches. For example: stress, fatigue, lack of sleep, negative thoughts, insecurities, physiological changes, menstruation period, sinus problems, alcohol, heavy meals, etc.

Pregnancy headache are most often mild, giving a feeling of discomfort or simply unpleasant pressure in about 25% of cases.

During pregnancy it is indicated to take very few drugs, because many drugs are contraindicated, and for many studies did prove they're safe for pregnant woman. To get rid of the headaches it is better to use natural treatment methods, methods that have no side effects.
